Privacy on Our Web Site
The following statement discloses the information gathering and dissemination practices for the Association for Canadian Jewish Studies / Association des études juives canadiennes ("ACJS-Aéjc").

Collection of data

IP Addresses
ACJS-Aéjc will on occasion collect visitors' IP addresses to help diagnose problems with and to administer our Web site. IP addresses will not be used for any purposes other than these.

Information collected from forms
We may use forms for visitors to request information, products, and services. Depending on the service, product, or information visitors request, visitors' contact information (e.g. e-mail addresses or telephone numbers) or financial information (e.g. credit card numbers) may be collected. Contact information from these forms is used only in the context in which it was intended. Visitors' contact information is also used to get in touch with them when necessary. Visitors may opt out of receiving future mailings; see the choice/opt-out section below. Financial information that is collected is used to bill the user for products and services.

ACJS-Aéjc generally does not use cookies, with the following exceptions: From time to time, we may perform a usability study on our Web site in order to improve performance. Such use of cookie technology does not give ACJS-Aéjc access to any information specifically identifying a visitor on our site.

From time to time, ACJS-Aéjc may perform surveys or opinion polls. The information requested will not be of a nature as to personally identify a visitor.

ACJS-Aéjc provides interactive environments on the Internet to enable members to express themselves and share their ideas and interests by creating and participating in discussion-based virtual communities. ACJS-Aéjc makes no guarantees that children can not enter these sites and present both online and offline contact information without parental consent or notification. Further, there is no guarantee that children will not post such information in a public forum. Therefore, we encourage children to include their parents in the registration process, and we encourage parents to read this privacy statement before allowing their children on line.

In order to process subscriptions and membership information, certain information is necessarily collected by ACJS-Aéjc. We retain records of members and these records may contain any or all of the following information: names, addresses, phone numbers, credit card numbers, or other relative identifying information. WE DO NOT SELL OR SHARE THIS INFORMATION WITH OTHER PARTIES.

If a visitor places a request for technical service regarding ACJS-Aéjc, the information that may be collected is typically: e-mail address, name, phone number, correspondence records, and technical information such as system hardware, operating system, and the version of browser or e-mail software being used. This information is voluntarily given by the visitor, and is used by ACJS-Aéjc only for the purpose of assisting the visitor with his or her problem.
